I'll let everybody know what it is after I get some responses.

Nothing personal....it just seems I've started numerous threads around here and haven't gotten any responses lately.

As far as I can find there are registrations and renewals for all episodes of My Favorite Martian. This was the standard format for the notices on every episode (attached is a card from a season 2 episode.)

While the notice is non standard there is nothing in the law that says what order the three elements have to come in. There are mixed rulings on whether a line break between elements of the notice can nullify it. But when such things have been ruled on the main factor has always been whether there is anything (e.g. a line, an image, etc) between the required elements. A simple empty line space probably isn't enough to make the notice invalid.

The other factor that might be considered regarding the notice's validity is whether the inclusion of "Jack Chertok Television, Inc" and "Desilu" could cause confusion has to who was the claimant. Although, there is no definitive answer on that. It would have to go to court.

So it must have been "My Living Doll" then - the only other show Jack Chertok made at Desilu in 1964. Surprised that it has the exact same credit format.

Anyway, the same goes as for Martian.

bingo! that is what it is :)

I respect your vast knowledge and opinion on copyright, but I don't understand how you think this is a valid notice? It does not have a claimant just a copyright and a year. Also as you had mentioned there is two different names above and below the copyright statement.

I didn't know My Favorite Martian had the exact same card/format in the ending credits.

Very interesting

Because there is no barrier (other than an empty line space) the claimant could and would argue that this card is a single statement containing "A Production of Jack Chertok Television, Inc. All Rights Reserved - © Copyright. MCMLXIV Filmed at Desilu." Therefore a claimant (the producer) The copyright symbol and word, the year of claim and a clear statement that Desilu is the location of filming and not a claimant.

If the card read

"Jack Chertock Television, Inc.

All Rights Reserved - © Copyright. MCMLXIV

Desilu"

(ie without the additional information) there would be room for "confusion" about who the claimant is.

Non-standard notices are still valid even though they look wrong. There are 100s of MGM films that contain the non-standard, but still valid, copyright notice format:
"Controlled by Leow's Inc.
Copyright in the USA MCMXL
All Rights Reserved."
